Infamous Mothers: Women who’ve gone through the belly of Hell and brought something good back.
As some of you know, Gather the Women is our quarterly breakfast featuring a keynote speaker who shares her insights, passions, and work. Each breakfast is a place for women activists (or activists of any gender identity) to come together, connect, converse, and engage with a topic affecting the peace and freedom of our world. We are excited and honored to announce that Sagashus T. Levingston, founder and author of Infamous Mothers, will be speaking at our upcoming Gather the Women event! The soon-to-debut traveling art exhibit, Women Against Hate, will be on display for a sneak preview as well.
The event will take place on February 13th, from 8-9:30am at Threshold, 2717 Atwood Ave. Breakfast will be buffet-style for all diets (let us know if you are vegan) at the cost of 12$ per person. Space is limited, so if possible please reserve a spot ahead of time with Susan Freiss at firstname.lastname@example.org or 608-609-7971 (Payment can be made at the breakfast)
A little background on the organization: Infamous Mothers provides personal and professional development for women who mother from the margins of society and within the social and economic ecosystem which supports, alienates, challenges, dismisses, loves, hates, judges, or is completely ignorant of these moms’ and the impact this infrastructure of institutional networks has on their lives.
“Our clients currently include social service agencies and individual mothers. At the core of our work is programming around narrative frames, self care and legacy-making. Staples of our work include speaking and trainings. We have a recently published coffee-table book entitled Infamous Mothers: Women Who’ve Gone through the Belly of Hell and Brought Something Good Back. In 2018, we are officially launching an Infamous Mothers Membership and a pilot maternal development program, Infamous Mothers University (IMU). Infamous Fathers, the book, is expected to also debut in 2018.” – Sagashus T. Levingston
We look forward to seeing you there!
