This week’s Monday Vigil message: Vigil for Peace WK 1598 8.6.2018

Vigiling for Mother Earth

WHY vigil every Monday at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd & Doty Street in downtown Madison?

“We work on behalf of a peaceful, just world and seek a world where people and the planet are respected and valued. We ask you to think about each topic we write about, different each week. Some individuals here have been present on this corner for over 30 years to bring messages of peace, justice, and equality. Join us any Monday.”

Monday Vigil for Peace features the Poor People’s Campaign

Did you know that each Monday (except federal holidays) from 12:00 Noon -1:00 pm there is a peace vigil at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd & Doty Street in downtown Madison? And that there has been such a vigil there for the last 37 years?

To quote Mary Beth, one of the founders, “On this corner, as we stand in resistance to multiple injustices, we are many parts of a magnificent whole which makes me proud to be a sister of my compatriots.”

Each week a new flyer is created to distribute to passers-by. Here is a link to this week’s flyer focusing on the Poor People’s Campaign:
